Beware of fake monks...and elephants!

One thing that struck us about Bangkok is that many things are not quite what they seem.  Petrol stations are not always petrol stations, girls are not always girls, "helpful" tourists are not always tourists and, according to one sign in a bar, monks are not always monks!!  We didn't managed to find out why the necessity to be wary of fake monks but we'll let you know if we do.

As for the elephant...Annie is convinced that she saw a man walking one down the road on a lead so you can make your mind up as to whether this was real or not!

After a very hectic 36 hours in Bangkok we dragged ourselves out of our lovely hotel (www.lamphutreehotel.com), missed breakfast and made the long journey across the border into Cambodia and on to Siem Reap.  We were so paranoid about not being scammed I'm afraid we've done the Brits a big disservice and now all helpful and friendly people on the Cambodian border think us all to be rude and very mistrusting!  Angkor Wat awaits tomorrow, so any local fraudsters or conmen who happen to reading this should probably look out for us...we will be looking to appease our guilt!
