On top of the world...

As these photos might suggest we spent our last night in Bangkok in a little more style than we've become accustomed to. The views certainly made up for the cost of the cocktails, which actually by London standards were very reasonable anyway, and we would definitely now class The Sky Bar on the top of State Tower as a must-see in Bangkok (thanks for the recommendation Barbara!).

We now find ourselves two hours north-east of Bangkok in the town of Kanchanaburi and about 2km from the infamous Bridge over the River Kwai which meant another museum visit to learn the story of this railway and the Asian and Allied Prisoners of War who died during it's construction. Another eye-opening account of a pretty brutal period of history and more stories of amazing courage and sacrifice by so many.

On a more light hearted note, tomorrow we take a trip to swim in waterfalls, ride on elephants and try out bamboo rafts...Annie has decided that we've had enough history lessons!

PS: We confess that we didn't actually take either of the photos above - in case you hadn't guessed!
